Huawei T1: To buy or not to buy?

Huawei has added yet another new tablet in its array of phones and tablets. Huawei expressing all its innovations with Honor series of smartphones and tablets also introduced the Honor T1 tablet in India, which is quite competitively priced with hardware and price tag which can give some relief to budget conscious buyers. It was launched in New Delhi recently. Its features and uses are more or less a lot like other tablets available in the market, but here is a review which I would give as a consumer, and whether or not I would recommend this phone to others.

To start with, I will talk about the design, build and display of the tablet. It has a large 8 inch form factor with display which is pretty decent and the build quality considering the price tag, is pretty decent as well. The rear has metallic build which is pleasantly surprising at this price range. Both MicroSD card slot and SIM card are housed under a flap on the right edge. A chrome lining boarders the front side and adds to its appeal. The tablet feels quite slim with body thickness is approximately of 7.9 mm. The weight is well balanced as well. Neither too heavy, neither too light.

The 8 inch display flaunts of 1280 x 800 pixels. It’s an IPS LCD display panel with good colors and the viewing angles are worth mentioning. The sharpness is most you can ask for under 10k price range as most manufacturer are still sticking to this resolution or even lower 1024 x 600 pixels. The display is not something extraordinary but won’t disappoint you either. It has clear display and visuals appear quite vivid. But then, if you are looking out for an exceptional feature in its display, you are most likely not getting the desired outcomes.

Technically speaking, Huawei is using 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 MSM8212 quad core with Adreno 302 GPU. The humble quad core SoC is aided by 1 GB RAM to facilitate multi tasking. Clearly this device is meant for basic day to day usage, enjoying multimedia content on a large display, reading activities, running multiple apps, etc, and is quite capable of handling such stuff at one go. We didn’t find any User Interface lag, but this is subjected to change if your usage lies on the heavier side of the spectrum.

With such large form factor, photography won’t be high on most people’s priority list, but Huawei has provided with a 5 MP rear camera none the less with a VGA front camera for basic video calling. The camera performance is amazing, although it might not come across as. I would have preferred a single and better front camera in a tablet, but Huawei is sticking to the conventional market requirements. In all, it is a great phone for those who are thinking of switching to a tablet. Give it a try!

Huawei Ascend G750: An ideal smartphone for today’s generation

Being an avid smartphone user, when I first heard about Ascend G750, the first thing which struck me was the presence of Octa Core processor. In the given price range, it is first of its kind. The second feature that brought a smile on my face was its exceptional camera capabilities. The 13 MP rear end camera, clubbed with flash and 5 MP front camera, enhances the photographic experience. I was able to click few good selfies from the front camera and I realized, it is equipped with auto photo enhancing technique. It has got F 2.2 aperture which allowed me to focus exclusively on the specific target. I was able to give required shades to the picture as it also has Blue Wave Filter Glass. The front camera comes with 22 mm wide angle lens which helps in taking 360° panoramic picture. Truly, amazing in its category!

The 5.5" phone works hassle free without any lag, as it is supported by Real Octa Core 1.7 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM and 8 GB ROM. The Android Jelly Bean 4.2 platform disappoints a little as we have superior platforms available in the same price range. Multi-tasking too is hassle free, thanks to the processor. The battery life is decent as it comes with juicy 3000 mAh battery. It has got power saving technology and auto power control, which gives you 38 hours of battery life in idle conditions. The dual-sim presence is also an add-on to the phone which I was longing from such a long time in this category. The dual-sim works efficiently and there are no hang-ups. While travelling, games are the greatest companion and a smart phone, I think must be good enough to play high end games. The gaming experience on this phone was amazing and HD videos played themselves seamlessly on the phone. Clear motion technology gives the clarity of 60 Frames per Second (FPS) which makes online video watching a real treat for your eyes.

Now let us delve into the minus factors of the phone which disappointed me as a user. Though the display is good but I was expecting a bit more than 720*1280 pi, for the price tag it comes with. It endorses 8 GB internal memory and 32 GB expandable memory which could have been 64 GB.

I would recommend this product, as Huawei is a brand which has established itself in the telecom field. The wide range of engineering solution it provides for the front runners of the technology, one can trust its engineering endeavor for a better solution and customer service. Specifically, this product is currently the best performing phone in the given price range and category. The one and the most important factor which comes into the play is 'user friendliness' and this phone can be handled easily without an iota of stress. Huawei has made sure that there are no complications involved in the usability. This phone is worth having for its speed, camera and look.

After creating a niche for itself in the telecom industry, by working with top guns of the field, Huawei might give major phone makers a run for their money. Huawei might require some time to establish its brand in the market but with this launch it has brought itself into the heavy-weight category. But Huawei Ascend G750 with the price tag of Rs. 24999.00/- it has got stiff competitors in Micromax Canvas Knight A350, Karbonn Titanium Octane, HTC Desire 816 and Gionee Elife E7. Its durability and sustainability will be tested in great detail, in coming time with more and regular usage.

E8221: Want to download big files at the click of the mouse? Go for Huawei Power-Fi E8221

Before elaborating on what made me such a fan of the Huawei Power-Fi E8221, I must thank the manufacturers for coming up with such a versatile and dependable Internet connectivity solution.  Ever since I started using this data card, connectivity has become my strength at home and work rather than a challenge.  Another turnaround that happened in my day-to-day business life due to this data card is that it has completely absolved me of the charging hassles.  This is because of two reasons – one its battery is strong and lasts longer and number two I can charge it directly from the power mains.  If I am in a hurry of reaching an important business meeting, I can charge the data card in my car.  At home and office, I can directly insert it into the power mains and get it charged without having to interrupt my work.

The effect of Power-Fi E8221 started showing on my work from day one.  Instead of spending important business hours in getting the good enough download speed on my laptop; I was suddenly completing important tasks – thanks to the uninterrupted Internet.  This was a welcome change in my daily work.  In fact I switched over to Huawei E8221 data card to bring about this change.  But this was not all that I was getting from the data card; I was also getting big files downloaded at the click of the mouse. This is what I call the icing on the cake moment in my work.

It is not just connectivity, but high speed connectivity
What I found to be the real catalyst of my enhanced experience is the HSDPA and HSUPA technologies used in the E8221.  These technologies allow me great download and upload speeds when I use it with a 3G network.  Thought the company claims to give a download speed of 14.4 Mbps, you don’t always get it.  However, in good signal areas you can easily get speeds of more than 10 Mbps.  It is this feature of the card that has made my life much easier when it comes to sending heavy presentations to clients.  The best part is that I can use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices.  This means that connectivity is not a problem while giving presentations as a team.

Compatibility with Windows 8
This is one feature of the Huawei E8221 that makes it a truly versatile and up-to-date data card.  Due to its ability to connect to Windows 8 devices it is compatible with all the latest laptops and other windows 8 devices.  In my case it has come like a blessing in disguise as all my devices are Windows 8 enabled.  Another unique benefit of this data card is that it is a plug and play connectivity solution.  This implies that you do not have to configure the IPN every time you use it with a new device.

Unique advantage of the Huawei App
The good thing about buying a Huawei product is that it supports all the products with unique apps.  In the same way, the E8221 is supported by the Huawei Mobile Wi-Fi App.  I can download this app even on my Android TM   device to manage my data usage in a more efficient way.  This app tells me my data usage in real time.  Apart from this, I can also find out my battery strength and the number of users at a given point and time.
In all, I found the E8221 to be a great connectivity solution that not only enhances my business, but also gives me a lot of convenience.

A feature-rich smartphone that guarantees quality and reliability

When it comes to choosing a smartphone for yourself, you are literally overwhelmed by the options available in the marketplace.  The sheer number of smartphone brands is enough to baffle you; some are well established brand, others promise to deliver good value for money and there is another lot that promise to give you the ultimate combination of feature if you are willing to wait.  On one hand, this situation is good for you for it allows you the luxury of choice; but on the other hand you get confused.  It was the same situation for me when I was looking for a good smartphone.  However, I was lucky enough to have a techie friend who helped me to find the best smartphone that suits my needs – the Huawei Ascend G730.  Though he did not suggest me the brand, he told me the way to select the best smartphone.  Ever since I chose the G730, I can’t stop thanking my friend.  This is because his advice not only helped me to choose the right smartphone for myself, but also make me technically more literate.

As per the advice of my techie pal, I first assessed my requirements as a budding writer and then tried to synchronize my needs with my budget.  I found that I was looking for a high end quality product that has the latest technology and features.  Being a writer, I have to read a lot online; therefore my kind of phone should have a big screen.  To keep a balance between my personal and professional life, I needed a phone that supports dual SIM cards.  I wanted an operating system that is user friendly and a processor that can give me flawless surfing experience.  So, with these features in my mind, I headed to the marketplace.  Fortunately, I was able to find a lot of such phones; however, these phones had no brand value.  Though I am not a brand worshipper, for me lack of brand value meant frequent breakdowns and poor service network.  So, I simply chose not to go for the smartphones that offered too much for very less money.

My next option was to go for a well established brand that gives me the features I was looking for.  But the cost of such phones was simply exorbitant and well beyond my budget.  There was only one world-class brand that offered my kind of features well within my budget – the Huawei Ascend G730.  Though, the phone was from the world’s 3rd largest smartphone manufacturer, I was not sure of its service network in India.  So, I checked for the quality of after sales service in the virtual space.  To my pleased surprise, the manufacturer had a robust service network throughout India.  The user reviews were also very encouraging.

Ultimately, I decided to have a look at the phone at my nearest dealer.  I found the G730 to be doubly attractive than what it looked like in the online advertisements.  It is nothing less than poetry in design; a rare combination of straight lines and curves.  The big 14 cm screen set perfectly in aesthetic front and back panels.  What I found within the phone was equally enticing – Android 4.2TM  OS, 1.3 GHz Quad Core Processor, Dual SIM, 5 MP primary camera, 0.3 MP front camera and the unique HSPA+ technology that gives download speeds of up to 21 Mbps.  The whole package comes with the quality guarantee of Huawei.  It is the best deal that one can have in a smartphone.  I am able to say so after using the phone for 3 months without any hassles.

If you want a best smartphone in India with latest features and guarantee of quality, the Huawei Ascend G730 is your ultimate choice.

Huawei Ascend Y220: The Ultimate Smartphone for the New Generation

When you are out in the marketplace to buy your first smartphone, confusion is the word that defines you.  The options are so many that you literally go berserk and taking a call becomes literally impossible.  But I found an easy way around this problem; instead of hitting a mobile store or taking advice from friends and family, I collated a list of features that are considered “in” for my generation of people.

Compiling this list, I was able to work out what exactly I should go for.  My next step was to go on the internet and look for the phones that had the features I was looking for.  In the process, I also got the opportunity to compare various brands for price, brand value and features.  The best thing that happened as a result of this approach was that I was able to buy the ultimate first smartphone, the Huawei Ascend Y220.

What a youth can ask for in his/her first smartphone? Just make a list.  My list of features was as follows:
  • Good camera
  • Good processor
  • Large touch screen
  • Expandable memory
  • Android OS
Initially, I could find a huge number of smartphones offering all these features except for the Android operating system.  The one thing that I found striking was that the prices were very enticing.   However, these phones were not of well known brands, which was kind of a deal breaker.   Another thing that I did not like about these phones was that these phones were without a reasonable operating system.  So, I decided to go in for established brands, which suddenly took the price far beyond my budget.  Then I typed “top smartphone companies” in the Google search and found the name “Huawei” as the third largest manufacturer of smartphones in the world.  Being an averagely informed youth, it was news to me.  No wonder, I had not checked the Huawei smartphones.  However, after checking this fact on the Internet, the next page I went to was the Huawei website.  For me, this was the turning point; a whole new world of smartphones was in front of me.  As per my budget, I clicked on the most affordable smartphone that was the Y220.

When I had a look at the technical specifications and features of the phone, I was simply amazed.  The phones boasts of an AndroidTM 2.3 operating system, 3.2 HD camera, 800 MHz Cortex-A5 processor, 8.96 cm (3.5”) capacitive touch display, expendable memory up to 32 GB.  With these features the HSDPA and HSUPA was like icing on the cake.  This was just like getting the best of both the worlds.  Imagine having an Android device capable of giving you high speed 3G connectivity as your first smartphone; “thrilling” is the first word that comes to your mind.  It was the same with me when I chose the Huawei Ascend Y220 as my first smartphone. The best part was that the price of the phone suited my pocket.

Since the day I purchased my Y220, life has never been the same for me.  Now, the Internet is on my fingertips, social media is just a tap away and I have discovered a new passion in gaming.  What makes the Y220 experience really worthwhile is that you have the guarantee of the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer by your side.
